Goodge Place Market (currently closed)

Goodge Place is a stone’s throw from the site of Middlesex Hospital, which closed in 2005. The motif on our stall is the Middlesex county coat of arms, which is identical to Essex (three saracen swords) with an added crown. We have made this crown saracen (Arabic) as well reflecting our Middle Eastern food.

We apologise to our friends and regular customers at Goodge Place for not being there. Until the situation clears we have made the decision to trade instead at Byng Place WC1E 7LE which is about a ten minute walk away in the middle of the University of London (Senate House, SOAS, Birkbeck and University College London). When lockdown started to ease we felt it right to go where we thought there would be the most customers. A colleague has applied to open a stall selling our food in Goodge Place in the meantime which would be fine by us but we have not yet secured approval from the licensing authority which is Camden Council markets’ department.

Goodge Place was the first street market falafel stall Hoxton Beach opened. We have traded here since 2008. This corner of Fitzrovia has become a magnet for falafel lovers, especially since the arrival of our Palestinian friends at Hiba almost next door. has become a Pre-pandemic this was a group of five food stalls on the cobbled curve of this small street near the site of the former Middlesex Hospital. These days our stall is the only trader but we have a continuing following including from Broadcasting House a short walk away and Westminster University.
